Project #1 – Stories and Story-telling

Project #1 – Stories and Story-telling
Time Requirement/Estimate: Project #1 – 2 to 4 hours
What are the ways & methods (exposure opportunities) your organization uses to introduce your mission to new people or groups?
List 3-5 ways that people find out about your organization. What are the most common ways for people to initially interact with you? (Use separate document.)
What information do they hear about your work and ministry? Is it led by your vision and mission? Or, is it a talking head rattling off statistics and numbers? Remember, people are first attracted to your mission & ministry by their emotions.
What stories can be shared in this first interaction that will engage the hearts of those present? Not in a manipulative way, but in an honest, authentic manner.
Draft 2-3 brief stories about your organization’s impact that can be shared whenever someone “meets” your ministry for the first time. (Use other document, if needed.)
When completed, submit your stories below.
At the end of the story, what ways might people be asked to stay involved and connected to your organization? How might you build a bridge for people to begin a relationship with your ministry? Here’s a sample list:
_____ Sign up for newsletter (or whatever updates you offer)
_____ Prayer team member (provide prayer guide!)
_____ Volunteer (give 2-3 simple, minimal time options)
_____ Participate in ad hoc advisory group
_____ Take a survey (use Survey Monkey or other free web-based tool)
_____ Ask for small, one-time monetary gift
_____ Ask for nominal monthly gift
Are there other ways to be involved that are specific to your mission/cause/ministry? List them on another document.
When completed, submit your “bridges” below.
